Order Processing Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Order Processing Engineer (CAD Specialist) to join our team. This role requires a strong understanding of construction techniques and experience in a custom manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately translating customer orders and specifications into detailed manufacturing and construction-ready documentation, ensuring precision, efficiency, and alignment with production capabilities.

This position involves close coordination with engineering, design, and production teams, leveraging AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools to prepare order files, optimize layout solutions, and support seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret customer orders, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Translate order requirements into detailed and accurate CAD drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Ensure order documentation is complete, precise, and in compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Work closely with production, design, and engineering teams to resolve technical questions and optimize workflow.
  • Apply construction knowledge and mathematical skills to ensure dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
  • Identify and troubleshoot potential issues in order files or drawings, proactively resolving discrepancies.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to create or modify 2D drawings and layouts.
  • Use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) to manage order processing documentation and communications.
  • Maintain attention to detail and concentration over extended periods to ensure accuracy in all aspects of the role.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the order processing function.


Education and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
  • With 1–3 years of experience in order processing, drafting, or engineering support within a custom manufacturing or construction-related environment.
  • Proven understanding of construction techniques and building systems.
  • Industry experience in a custom manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and spatial reasoning skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to articulate technical information clearly.
  • Highly resourceful and able to work independently to solve complex problems.
  • Strong focus, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple orders/projects simultaneously.
  • A natural problem-solver with a “puzzle-solver” mindset
