Legal Research Analyst

Job Summary:

As an Legal Research Analyst, you’ll play a key role in uncovering critical information through independent investigations, ranging from simple inquiries to complex deep dives. Your work will focus on individuals, entities, companies, and events, using a diverse mix of public, commercial, and proprietary databases to gather, analyze, and interpret data. With your sharp analytical skills, you’ll not only identify key insights but also uncover potential security and information gaps.

In this role, you’ll take charge of managing case files, developing detailed project plans, and ensuring every investigative report is thorough, accurate, and of the highest quality. You’ll be trusted to uphold strict client contracts and management guidelines, making your contributions pivotal to the success of each investigation.

Key Responsibilities:

Investigation and Research:

  • Conduct investigations independently, ranging from simple to complex, by identifying individuals and entities before starting the process.
  • Conduct research and investigation services on companies, individuals, and events using a wide array of public databases, commercial and proprietary databases, and the internet.
  • Apply expert judgment and experience in interpreting information and making decisions.
  • Gather key information and analysis from investigations and intelligence, then include it in investigative reports.
  • Identify information and security gaps.

Case and Project Management:

  • Establish and manage investigative files for all new cases.
  • Prepare case project plans and reviews with management.
  • Prepare and review all submitted investigative reports to ensure accuracy, research and investigative sufficiency, and professional quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all components of the client contract and management requirements.

Collaboration and Client Relations:

  • Collaborate effectively with the team to identify the appropriate jurisdictions for record placement, ensure clear communication and meet deadlines.
  • Report any client-related issues to the relevant management staff.
  • Partner with the client relations team to understand and address client needs.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure accurate placement of search and document orders.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Participate in designated training sessions/seminars and review company training materials.
  • Enhance professional competencies to ensure high-quality investigations.
  • Apply highly developed inductive reasoning skills and excellent communication skills to solve and anticipate problems.
  • Utilize the company portal to track and store information and documents.
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as requested by the immediate superior.
     

Education and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent training or experience as a paralegal. 
  • Experience/knowledge in business, law or due diligence investigations and research required
  • Extremely strong research and analytical skills
  • Organized and able to multi-task
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal communication skills and writing skills, including ability to quickly and effectively summarize information from multiple sources into concise analytical assessments
  • Able to work under adverse and stressful conditions with little or no supervision
  • Able to implement changes relating to operations and external/internal environment, when necessary
  • Knowledgeable with computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Ability to prioritize several projects while meeting tight deadlines
  • Day 1 HMO
